Match the person to the subject
A supplier introduction, a product demonstration and a detailed commercial discussion need different preparation. Describe your industry and the level of technical detail. Check the interpreter’s published experience and ask what they can reasonably cover. Do not assume that a language profile also includes legal, medical or technical professional advice.
Plan the day realistically
List each meeting location and its expected duration. Include preparation time, travel, breaks and any support after the conversation. Agree who is responsible for transport and expenses. If your visit changes, ask for a booking amendment before relying on a new schedule. The existing booking stays in place until a replacement agreement is accepted.
Keep responsibilities clear
An interpreter supports communication within the agreed scope. Your business retains responsibility for its decisions and contracts. Use the private conversation to clarify deliverables, confidentiality expectations and any notes you need. Review the final quote rather than relying on a starting rate: it records the total price and actual sessions you are agreeing to.
